Norwich Walk-in Centre to Stay Open
NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board (ICB) has confirmed that the Norwich Walk-in Centre will remain open. Plans to make changes to the GP Out of Hours Service and the Vulnerable Adults Service will also not go ahead.
Ed Garratt OBE, Interim Chief Executive of NHS Norfolk and Waveney ICB, explained:
“Our aim is to strengthen healthcare services in local communities and improve access to primary care. This supports the government’s upcoming 10-Year Plan, which focuses on shifting more care into the community, focusing on prevention, and making better use of digital tools.
“Given this, we’ve decided to end the current consultation process and wait for further national guidance before making any major changes. Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their views.”
Sadie Parker, Director of Primary Care for the ICB, added:
“Things have changed since we started the consultation. There is now a stronger focus on developing health services within neighbourhoods, and we expect more national guidance soon to help shape our plans.
“In the meantime, we will put in place new contracts for both the Norwich Walk-in Centre and the Vulnerable Adults Service, as the current contracts are due to expire. The GP Out of Hours Service will continue as usual, since its contract is still ongoing.”
